Junk Nike Shoe

Here we’re going to see a new kind of shoe made up of chips, rams etc. Humans have a nasty habit of producing and accumulating garbage, but Gabriel Dishaw, a junk-metal genius from Carmel, Ind., turns trash into artwork. His most recent pieces were inspired by his love of Nike shoes, as he fashioned five different kicks, including dunks and high tops. Dishaw’s shoes are collages of otherwise potentially useless hardware salvaged from computers, typewriters, and metal scraps. His work is meticulous, as it takes him up to several weeks to complete one pair of shoes and an accompanying carrying case for storage. Though the sculptures are aesthetic replicas of real Nike shoes, they are far from wearable. His latest pair, Blazer Pentium 1.0 (named for Intel chips), weighs 15 pounds–and we’re guessing the shoes don’t have arch support.
Sony’s New Stylish HeadPhones

Sony announced the availability of three new earpad headphones, the MDR-370LP, MDR-570LP and MDR-770LP. While all three feature 30mm driver units, the 570LP is the only closed-back offering, while the other two are open-back. In theory, closed-back headphones are more taut-sounding, while open-back variants sound more airy. The 370LP is the most striking with four bright colors on offer. The 570LP features swiveling ear cups for fold-flat storage. Not skimping on the looks department, the 770LP appears the sleekest of the lot since the ear cups are adjusted along the headband’s length. The MDR-370LP, MDR-570LP and MDR-770LP headphones are available at all Sony retailers for S$49 (US$35.30), S$68 (US$48.99) and S$89 (US$64.12) respectively. They will ship Asia-wide by end 2009.
Glass Speakers

“The Force” collection from Perfect8 technologies will fit the bill. These exquisite glass boomboxes comprise five floorstanders and a passive subwoofer (The Cube). The former include a pair of life-sized 2m towers (The Force), a center speaker (The Force Center) with height-adjustable midrange and treble drivers, and two surround speakers (The Point) enhanced by flat ribbon drivers. If it’s a simple stereo setup you’re interested in, The advanced-technology designs represent the latest thinking in “see through,” highly transparent sound quality. Perdect8 Technologies is a Swedish manufacturer of high-end ribbon tweeters. dynamic loudspeakers, and subwoofers. The company was founded in 2005 with a mission: produce the world’s most exclusive and best sounding loudspeaker systems. The Force is also available separately for US$149,000.
