Motorola Mini H9 Bluetooth Headset

Hello Minimoto! After what seems like endless months of teasing, Motorola has finally released their almost-completely-in-the-ear mini Bluetooth headset. Many sites have long told tales of the elusive (read: never released) H5 mini headset. Now after months and months of waiting, the ‘new and improved’ H9 Miniblue Bluetooth Headset has come to life. The H9 comes with several eartips for custom-fitting to your ear canal (yes, it may take some people a bit of getting used to). It also features a charging pedestal that travels with the headset to keep the battery refreshed. The H9’s tiny size limits its talk time to a feeble 1.5 hours, but the charging pedestal allows you to constantly top off the battery in the headset, giving you up to 7.5 hours. Now we’re talking (no pun intended). Call quality is touted to be as good as Motorola’s other Bluetooth headsets, and my brief usage so far supports thiPrices vary greatly, so shop around. You should be able to find it from a reputable dealer online for right around $100. As an added bonus . . . the box is this crazy two-way slide thing (you have to see it) that couldn’t possibly be any cooler. Hopefully your dealer won’t have repackaged it!
Monster’s New In-Ear Headphones

The in-ears are the latest addition to the Beats by Dr. Dre headphone family from Monster. What struck us most was its daring triangular design, as opposed to the standard square-ish or round-ish shapes of most standard headphones. The Lady Gaga headphones will come in three colors: Black, silver and silver-red. At this time, the basic model is available in Singapore only, with version in other colors and the ControlTalk (headset) feature to be launched only next year. Heartbeats by Lady Gaga retails for S$240 (US$172.27) at major audio equipment stores island-wide. In our brief hands-on, we found these ‘buds to have very good and thumpy bass with a rather sharp high note response. We’ll be giving these ‘cans a thorough review when we get our hands on a test pair. The only fault we felt during the brief test with these headphones was that a small corner of the housing kept pressing on the cartilage of our ears. That said, its flat cable design is great at warding off the usual wire-tangling issues.
Sony’s New Stylish HeadPhones

Sony announced the availability of three new earpad headphones, the MDR-370LP, MDR-570LP and MDR-770LP. While all three feature 30mm driver units, the 570LP is the only closed-back offering, while the other two are open-back. In theory, closed-back headphones are more taut-sounding, while open-back variants sound more airy. The 370LP is the most striking with four bright colors on offer. The 570LP features swiveling ear cups for fold-flat storage. Not skimping on the looks department, the 770LP appears the sleekest of the lot since the ear cups are adjusted along the headband’s length. The MDR-370LP, MDR-570LP and MDR-770LP headphones are available at all Sony retailers for S$49 (US$35.30), S$68 (US$48.99) and S$89 (US$64.12) respectively. They will ship Asia-wide by end 2009.
