Samsung’s LTE-enabled Netbook

The LTE (Long Term Evolution) network standard is hailed as the new format for the fourth-generation mobile broadband. Besides being easier for operators to deploy and maintain, LTE allows users to maintain seamless Internet connection even while moving between cell phone towers. At the same time, it offers 144Mbps download and 57Mbps upload speeds. In comparison, HSDPA+ runs at a maximum 42Mbps download and 11Mbps upload speeds. Mobile broadband operators such as M1 are already conducting trials for the new network. However, you cannot hook up to an LTE connection with current HSDPA equipment. And Samsung is not waiting for the standard to hit mainstream, either. At the Mobile World Congress tradeshow, the Korean maker showed off possibly the first Netbook–the 10.1-inch Pine Trail N150 model–sporting the Kalmia chipset which comes with integrated LTE capabilities.

No specifications or prices were provided, only that the U30Jc and N82Jv will be available in Asia come mid-March.
Nvidia Optimus is essentially a platform which combines integrated and discrete graphics in the same notebook. According to various online sources, the difference between Optimus and Nvidia’s Switchable Graphics is that the former doesn’t require a manual selection between GPUs. Instead, Optimus will detect the type of application running and pick the best video chipset based on performance requirements.
